Matteo Guidicelli is a proud boyfriend to Sarah Geronimo, whose official rendition of the Disney song "The Glow" recently debuted.
The 24-year-old actor was asked about Geronimo's stint with Disney
Tuesday on the sidelines of a press conference for "Shake, Rattle &
Roll," one of the eight entries in this year's Metro Manila Film
Festival."I'm very proud. Disney 'yan, eh. Sobrang proud po ako sa kanya. She's very proud also. Congratulations to her," he said.
According to Guidicelli, he only learned of the 26-year-old pop star's involvement with Disney from news articles, saying it's typical of Geronimo not to announce her achievements.
"Actually, she didn't tell me. I found out online tapos I asked her, 'You're doing this Disney song?' Sabi niya, 'Yeah, yeah.' Nahihiya nga siya, eh. She's very humble, eh. Natutuwa ako. Sabi ko, 'Dapat you're proud of it! Dapat you'll tell me, 'di ba?' Nakaka proud 'yun, eh. Masaya. I'm happy for her."
Guidicelli agreed when a reporter commented that Geronimo appeared
"more blooming" in recent episodes of "The Voice of the Philippines,"
where she sits as coach along with Lea Salonga, Bamboo and apl.de.ap.Noting that Geronimo does not think of herself as a "superstar," Guidicelli said he always reminds his girlfriend that she is beautiful. "Sinasabi ko nga sa lahat, 'Ang ganda ng girlfriend ko 'no?'" he quipped.
'We're adults'
Guidicelli did not elaborate when answering whether he and Geronimo still encounter challenges in their relationship, in light of past controversies surrounding the alleged disapproval of the singer's parents of any romantic relationship.
"Nagiging smooth naman lahat, pero siyempre meron namang challenges lahat ng relationships, 'di ba? Nagpagdadaanan naman natin lahat 'yan," he said.
The actor also denied speculations that he and Geronimo are only allowed to talk or see each other at certain times, saying, "She's 26, I'm 24, we're adults."
Asked specifically if he has a good relationship with Geronimo's
mother, Divine, who has faced criticisms for supposedly being
overprotective of the pop star, Guidicelli said: "Okay naman lahat. It's
okay. Everything's good."According to the "Shake, Rattle & Roll" star, he and Geronimo will spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with their respective families, but will make it a point to celebrate together when their schedules permit.
